We’re Back!

James —  August 14, 2011 — Leave a comment

No, don’t worry. We’re not covering that animated abomination. At least no yet. It’s James, and I’m just here to make sure all of you know that we’re going to come back strong during this week. Due to a ton of crazy stuff going down behind the scenes, Rufus and I decided, instead of just rushing out episodes of the podcast and putting up subpar articles, we stepped back and thought it would be better to collect ourselves and come back strong.

This Wednesday we’re finally recording our big 1-0 episode of the cineAWESOME! podcast, this time covering the two biggest films yet. The Fountain and Zodiac. Excited about this episode, and it might be our longest one yet.

More Top 7 Tuesday’s, WTF Wednesday’s, Sunday Shorts and a ton more of original content are coming your way. We just didn’t want you to worry that we were out of the fight, especially since right now is a dire time to be in this business. But we’ll be here as long as you want us to be. Just keep commenting on our entries, keep listening to the podcast, comment and rate us, spread the word as best you can. Just remember, Rufus will rap. That’s a good prize, I think. And all it takes is less than a couple of minutes.

Thanks for your patience and please let us know what we can do better serve all of you. We’re listening.

We are coming up on our almost one year anniversary at cineAWESOME! and it is a time of site rebirth. I’ll be honest. I knew that it would be a rough beginning for the site, but James and I had a passion to bring you a site that covered films that we wanted, and didn’t concern itself who the newest cast member of Superman was, or if James Bond had started principal photography or not. Not that we aren’t interested in things like that, but there are better sites for that out there. So we jumped in feet first, right into the deep end. We wanted to bring you films from around the world, indie films, classic films, the lost films from the archives, and the short films people tend to overlook. It’s been a rough year of starts and stops and growth spurts. I am neck-deep in grad school and James was busy writing up a storm over at Criterion Cast.

Well we are back.

We’ve added some great new staff writers: Lisa, Belem and DeAngelo who will be writing weekly articles along with me and James.

We’ve streamlined the site to bring you guys features such as Top 7 Tuesday, Trailer Thursday and Sunday Shorts. James even brought back Netflix-O-Rama the one of a kind article that will tell you what to watch on Netflix and why.

We launched our long awaited cineAWESOME! cast and the first episode has out preformed what James and I expected and that is just from everyone spreading the word! We aren’t even on iTunes yet!

We cohosted the Korean Film Blogathon with New Korean Cinema and are going to be participating in the LGBT Blogathon hosted by YAM Magazine to celebrate Pride Month.

We are just getting started. On behalf of James and everyone else working hard behind the scenes I want to thank everyone for their patience as we found our feet! As always keep spreading the word, sharing our articles, and most importantly let us know what you think and what you want to see!

Thank you!

Hey just so every one knows there we are doing some back-end work on the blog over the next couple of days. Including updating our theme. Speaking of themes all the themes we use in our little blog family comes from the amazing Press 75 Jason Schuller does an amazing job with these themes and they are reasonably priced and offer support over the lifetime of the theme. So if anything is broken or looks weird let me know at rufus <at> cineawesome <dot> com. There is a bit of customization we do so it may take me a couple of days to get everything up and ship shape as they say. As always thanks for reading and keep spreading the word!

Check out the latest episode of VCinema, subtitled Bollywood Vampires and co-hosted by Rufus and me.  Of course, that I’ve produced and hosted the show since its beginning doesn’t make this big news, but this may be a sign of future collaborations between the two sites or maybe even a dedicated cineAwesome! podcast.

Download this episode from the iTunes store (as “VCinema” in the “podcasts” category) or VCinema here.
